What’s new in Scottsdale this week?
Beyond Yoga opened its first Arizona store at Kierland Commons in Scottsdale on September 10, 2026. The Los Angeles activewear brand landed near Scottsdale Road and Greenway Parkway with its full lineup of women’s, men’s, and maternity pieces in sizes XXS to 4X. Two more Valley openings are worth your calendar this month: Black Rock Coffee Bar debuts in Chandler on September 15, and the Arizona State Fair returns to Phoenix on October 1.

If you walked Kierland Commons this week, you probably spotted a storefront that wasn’t there before. Beyond Yoga, the Los Angeles activewear label known for its ultra-soft Spacedye fabric, opened its first Arizona location on Thursday, September 10, 2026. KTAR News reported the September 10 opening date ahead of the debut, and the brand’s own store directory now lists the shop at 15054 Scottsdale Road, Suite 190D18, near Scottsdale Road and Greenway Parkway.
What you’ll find inside the Kierland Commons store
This isn’t a scaled-down mall kiosk. Beyond Yoga is carrying the full brand assortment here: women’s, men’s, maternity, loungewear, travel styles, and the newer glowzone training collection. Sizes run XXS to 4X, which is a genuine differentiator in a category that often stops well short of that.
The store itself is built around shop-in-shop sections and unusually roomy fitting rooms, plus rotating seasonal window displays the brand says will reflect Scottsdale specifically rather than recycling the same national set. If you’ve shopped the Beyond Yoga store page online and wondered about fit, this is the first place in the state you can actually try things on.
Placement matters here too. Kierland Commons is an open-air center at the Scottsdale and Phoenix line, walkable to Scottsdale Quarter across the street, and it has quietly become the Valley’s proving ground for brands testing their first Arizona store. Beyond Yoga only opened its first standalone shop in 2022, so seven-ish stores in, Scottsdale made the list alongside New York and Connecticut. That says something about how national retailers read this corridor.
Also opening: Black Rock Coffee Bar in Chandler, September 15

East Valley coffee drinkers get their turn on Tuesday. Black Rock Coffee Bar celebrates the grand opening of its new Chandler store at 3103 S. McQueen Road on September 15, 2026, per the company’s announcement issued September 11.
Opening day brings $3 medium drinks all day, and the celebration carries into Wednesday with a grand opening sticker giveaway. Fall seasonals are already on the menu if that’s your thing, including the pumpkin spiced latte and a cinnamon bun latte. Worth noting how deep this brand is in Arizona now: the Chandler store makes 62 locations statewide.
Mark the calendar: Arizona State Fair opens October 1

The biggest thing on the Valley’s fall calendar is now three weeks out. The Arizona State Fair runs October 1 through November 1, 2026 at the Arizona State Fairgrounds, 1826 W. McDowell Road in Phoenix, operating Thursdays through Sundays. This year’s theme is “A State of Wonder.”
Gates open at noon each day, with closing at 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays and 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. Expect the usual midway rides, livestock barns, competitive exhibits, and the Coliseum concert series. If you go more than once, the fair’s Fair Fandom signup is where the early-bird admission deals live.
Why this stuff matters if you’re house hunting
Here’s the part most people miss. When a national brand picks its first Arizona store, it isn’t guessing. Retailers run household income, daytime population, and traffic counts before they sign a lease, and they’re making a multi-year bet on the neighborhood around that address. Kierland pulling a first-in-state opening, and Chandler absorbing another coffee store in a market that already has 61 of them, are both small signals about where rooftops and spending are heading.
New spots like these are one more reason North Scottsdale and the East Valley keep drawing buyers. If you’re curious what it’s actually like to live within walking distance of a center like Kierland, or what the tradeoffs look like a few miles out, that’s my world. You can always work with me here.
